Yacht maintenance and operation instructions

1. Hull and waterline

The hull is generally cleaned once a week, or when needed, depending on the water quality of the yacht's location. You can use a special marine cleaning fluid to clean the hull, but you should pay attention to the product description when using it, because some cleaning fluids may affect the coating on the bottom of the ship that prevents sea creatures from adhering.

2. Porthole glass

Yacht’s porthole glass can use special glass maintenance products such as RAIN-X. This product has a cleaning and waterproof effect. It can penetrate into the pores of the glass to form a surface protective film and provide a clear line of sight. It can block water droplets from leaving marks on the glass. , Keep the glass windows clean every day.

3. Soft cushion

The open-air cushions should be kept as dry as possible. When not in use, it can be wrapped with a soft cushion cover or placed vertically in the storage compartment. After the rain or after cleaning the yacht, the cushion will generally get wet. At this time, wipe off the moisture on the cushion as much as possible to keep it dry. If the cushion gets dirty or stained, you can use a special detergent to clean it.

4. Canvas

You can use a warm cleaning solution to clean. In areas with wrinkles, such as buttonholes, some salt will accumulate. You can apply petroleum jelly after cleaning, and apply it every 120 days. Transparent plastic windows can be cleaned with water and dried with a soft cloth. When you roll up the window, be careful not to cause scratches, and do not keep the window rolled up for a long time. This may cause discoloration. Roll it up during the day and put it down at night. The place with the zipper is also easy to accumulate salt, and it can be cleaned with a warm cleaning solution every 120 days

5. Hatch covers on the deck

There is a groove under the hatch cover on the deck to collect and discharge the water that flows into the gap of the hatch cover. After each boat wash, open the hatch covers on all decks, clean the grooves, and dry them. When not in use for a long time, open the hatch cover once a month, and wipe the sealing strip on the hatch cover with warm cleaning fluid.

6. External lock

The locks of the storage cabinets on the deck should be kept clean, tidy and dry to prevent mildew. After each wash of the boat, the external storage cabinet should be opened and allowed to dry. The items in the storage cabinet should be kept dry and placed neatly. Empty the storage cabinets every 120 days and clean them thoroughly. All external door locks, latches and hinges should be kept clean, dry, and replaced every year. The latches and hinges are protected by lubricating oil every 6 months.

7. Cleaning the exterior of the yacht

Whether the yacht is cruising or moored at the dock, it will be contaminated with stolen goods, dust, bird droppings, and the salt crystal layer left by the evaporation of the seawater splashed on the yacht. These substances have a certain destructive effect on the surface gel coat of the yacht. Therefore, after every use of the yacht, it must be cleaned with fresh water. If it is not used for a long time, it must be cleaned at least once a week. When cleaning the yacht, choose a suitable cleaning fluid according to the actual situation of the yacht. Wipe the surface of the yacht with your hands. If it is not dirty, just rinse it with fresh water and wipe it dry. When choosing a cleaning fluid, you should choose a neutral cleaning product specially designed for yachts. Inappropriate cleaning fluids may reduce the life of the gel coat or spray paint. When cleaning the yacht, it should be cleaned from high to low, from bow to stern. Because most yachts are designed into this drainage line. After the cleaning is completed, it is very important not to let the cleaning fluid or water remaining on the hull of the ship dry by itself in the sun. The remaining cleaning fluid will quickly dirty the hull, and the remaining water usually leaves water spots that are difficult to remove. Therefore, after cleaning the hull each time, flush the hull with fresh water and quickly dry the hull.

8. External hardware

Although the stainless steel parts on the exterior of the yacht are designed for marine use, these stainless steel parts still need a better layer of wax protection due to the harsher marine environment than on land. Stainless steel parts should be waxed every 60 days or when needed. The high-quality wax film can resist the erosion of seawater, increase the gloss, and make future maintenance easier.

9. External electronic equipment

When washing the ship, all external electronic equipment/buttons and consoles should not be washed with water, otherwise the internal electronic components will be damaged. It can be wiped with a damp cloth. Every week, all electronic devices are turned on and run for at least half an hour to remove moisture from the line.
