Maintenance of outboard motors under different conditions of use

Maintenance used in severe cold season

(1)When the outboard engine is out of service for a short period of time, the reduction box body should be immersed in water to prevent waterway blockage, water pump damage, icing of the oil seal, etc., which may cause damage to the parts.

(2)After starting, observe whether the water is normal, run at idle speed for 5-10 minutes, warm up the moving parts and gear box gear oil, and then start sailing in gear.

(3)If the outboard motor is out of service for a long time, the outboard motor should be lifted off the boat, and the interior and exterior of the outboard motor should be simply maintained.

Maintenance when used in sea water or sandy waters

After being used in sea water, clean fresh water should be used to flush the cooling water channel to prevent the cooling water channel from being corroded by sea water and blocked by the deposited salt. After using in dirty and silt-laden waters, clean fresh water should be used to flush the cooling channel to prevent early wear of the pump impeller.

Maintenance after the outboard motor falls into the water

If the outboard motor falls into the water due to improper installation or careless operation, it should be quickly salvaged and necessary treatments should be performed on the outboard motor;

(1)Use fresh water to wash the external sludge, weeds, etc. of the outboard engine

(2)Remove the spark plug, make the spark plug hole face down, pull the starter several times, and remove the water in the engine

(3)Erect the oil storage in the outboard engine, drain purifier, fuel filter and each fuel pipe, remove and clean the carburetor and fuel filter, and then reinstall it on the engine;

(4)Inject an appropriate amount of outboard engine oil into each cylinder with an oil can, pull several times by pulling the hand, so that the cylinder oil is fully distributed on the cylinder wall and the crankcase wall

(5)Use compressed air to dry the surface moisture of electrical wires and electronic parts;

(6)Hang the outboard engine on the ship, connect all the wires, connect the spark plug to the hood, use the iron pull starter to check the electrode flashover, if everything is normal, install the spark plug to start the engine, and run it for 5～ After 10 minutes, it can be put into normal use.
