The difference between two-stroke and four-stroke outboard motors

1. Quality and structure

In terms of machine workmanship, the structure of the two-stroke machine is simpler and saves a lot of parts than the four-stroke machine. That is to say, the four-stroke machine is heavier than the two-stroke outboard machine, and the two-stroke machine is more convenient to carry.

2. Addition of gasoline and engine oil

The fuel of the two-stroke engine is a mixture of gasoline engine oil. The two-stroke outboard engine does not have a special oil filling port, and there is no need to pour engine oil for lubrication, but it is lubricated when it is burned.

The fuel of the four-stroke machine is gasoline, and the fuselage has a special oil filling hole. It is necessary to add a proper amount of oil to lubricate the crankshaft and other gears. After a period of time, it is necessary to remove the waste oil and refill with new oil of the same type to ensure the machine's performance. high performance.

3. Noise and jitter

Due to the difference in workmanship and exhaust methods, the noise and jitter of the two-stroke engine of the same brand and horsepower are slightly larger than that of the four-stroke outboard.

4. Easy to maintain

Due to the simple structure of the two-stroke outboard motor, the maintenance and repair of the two-stroke outboard motor is more convenient than the four-stroke motor, and the repair cost is also lower.

5. Fuel use

Two-stroke machines use mixed fuel, that is, gasoline and engine oil are mixed in proportion, gasoline: engine oil = 25:1 during the running-in period, and 50:1 after the running-in period.

For four-stroke fuel, please use gasoline above 92. The oil is added to the oil tank in the engine separately.

6. Fuel economy

If the outboard machine is used for work or operation, or for a long time every day, the four-stroke machine with the same horsepower will save about 30% fuel than the two-stroke machine. That is to say, the more four-stroke machine is driven, the more fuel efficient. And from the perspective of environmental pollution, the two-stroke structure is simple. Insufficient fuel combustion results in a higher residual degree of exhaust gas, which is not conducive to the current environmental protection.

7. In terms of price

Four-stroke outboards of the same brand and same horsepower are more expensive than four-stroke ones.
