Matters Needing Attention in The Storage Of Outboard Motors

In winter, in this unsuitable season for sailing, how can we better store our outboard motors to ensure the perfect performance for the next trip? Then look down...In order to prolong the service life of the outboard motor, you should contact your outboard motor dealer to maintain it before entering the warehouse. Users can use the most basic tools to complete the following procedures.

Fuel oil

Note: Gasoline will deteriorate due to factors such as exposure, temperature and time. In the worst case, gasoline will be contaminated within 30 days. The use of contaminated gasoline will seriously damage the engine (fuel system, blockage, valve jam). Damage caused by fuel deterioration is not covered by the warranty. In order to avoid damage caused by fuel deterioration, please strictly follow these recommendations: Be sure to use gasoline that meets the specifications. Use fresh, clean gasoline. In order to reduce the rate of deterioration, please put gasoline in a qualified fuel container. If the gasoline is expected to be stored for a long time (more than 30 days), the fuel tank and steam separator should be drained. Steam separator exhausted

⚠Warning

Gasoline is extremely flammable, and gasoline vapor may explode, causing serious injury or death. Smoking and fireworks are strictly prohibited in the work area. Keep out of reach of children. Be careful not to spill fuel. Spilled fuel or fuel vapor may catch fire. If there is fuel spillage, make sure that the fuel spillage area is dry before storing and transporting the engine. Smoking and fireworks are strictly prohibited in the fuel discharge or storage area.

1. Untie the drain tube from the clip at the bottom left of the engine cover.

2. Let the pipe end face the outside of the lower engine casing.

3. Use a commercially available flat-blade screwdriver to loosen the steam separator.

4. Tilt the outboard motor upwards.

5. Tilt the outboard motor downwards and drain the steam separator.

6. After draining thoroughly, tighten the drain screw firmly.

7. Clamp the drain tube on the top cover.

Placement of outboard motor

When transporting and storing the outboard motor, be sure to place the engine in a vertical or horizontal position (as shown in the figure). Connect the tailstock and the outboard motor support, and fix the outboard motor with bolts and nuts. The outboard engine should be stored in a ventilated, dry place without direct sunlight. Be careful not to put the outboard motor on its side for a long time. If it is necessary to place the outboard motor on its side, please drain the oil and wrap and protect the outboard motor with a polyurethane material or a covering layer.
